Look Out, Marcus!: Growing Up with Low Vision is a new children's picture book about the daily life of 10 year-old boy Marcus.

Marcus has low vision - he can still see, but just not as well as most people. Marcus is working with an Orientation and Mobility  Instructor, who is helping him adapt to his vision loss so he can lead a fairly normal life.

Look Out, Marcus! is written by Lil Deverell, an O & M Instructor at Guide Dogs Victoria who has written several health books, and illustrated by Nicholas Houghton - this is his first published work.

Look Out, Marcus!: Growing Up with Low Vision was publicly distributed for the first time on 11 October 2007 at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, in celebration of World Sight Day.

The official launch took place at the Guide Dogs Victoria campus on 16 October.

Copies of Look Out, Marcus! have been made available to primary schools throughout Victoria and will be distributed to health professionals from across Australia and New Zealand.

A great new website has been set up by Guide Dogs Victoria especially to promote Look Out, Marcus! You can now read the entire book in web format, including my drawings (which someone has coloured in) and try out the new interactive puzzles. It's a great resource for helping kids learn more about vision loss. The address is easy to remember: http://www.lookoutmarcus.com.au/ so have a look...
